weaselperson reportedly on Indefinite Leave of Absence from FWA

weaselperson aka Zachary Kazadi based on revelations at the Carnal Contendership, had been on an impressive run since their return, including a 2nd place finish in the Carnal Contendership, and a victory over the Contendership winner Cyrus Truth. However, at Fallout 029, his impressive run was cut short in a tough loss to former FWA World Champion Danny Toner who has been on an even more impressive streak with a win over the FWA World Champion themselves at 028.

Here's the quote that was passed on from weaselperson's representative:

"weaselperson will be taking an indefinite leave of absence from the FWA. We have no comment on how long that absence is going to last, nor are we willing to divulge the details on the reasons for the absence itself. weaselperson will return to the FWA when the time is right."

The FWA has confirmed that this absence is legitimate, and they will be respecting the request for the foreseeable future.

Kazadi had been infamous for their stop-start presence in the FWA during their previous tenures, vacating the X Championship belt shortly after winning it due to being dissatisfied with the methods of defenses, a brief absence from the FWA after a 2nd place finish in 2017's Carnal Contendership, and a longer departure in the midst of a North American Championship pursuit. They briefly returned in 2020 in a series of matches with the newly retired Devin Golden that ended with an I Quit match in their defeat. They had not wrestled since, up until, as far as we know, Carnal Contendership 2023. The recent defeat to Danny Toner could be a very likely reason for the absence, with some speculating that it's another case of an FWA wrestler reconsidering their position in the company after a tough loss, a not uncommon situation in professional wrestling, particularly in the FWA.

This leaves in jeopardy the challenge wp laid out for Alyster Black at Back in Business, and could very well mean that the Golden Opportunity match will be short it's most deserving contestant. The absence is curious given wp's own statements in the aftermath of the victory over Truth that their fellow competitors shouldn't bail at every sign of defeat, but it's much easier to stand proudly after a main event victory than it is after being struck by an Equalizer and pinned. If this is another lengthy absence from the FWA for Kazadi, it may be time for the company to cut ties with the should-have-been once and for all.
