According to a source, USA Network officials have indicated that they would like WWE to consider special themed RAWs. As in the past, the network would promote these occasional themed RAWs more heavily, likely during the ratings sweeps period.
The themed episodes would not be a weekly thing, but just a gimmick to push the show harder during key periods as ratings concerns continue. Vince McMahon is said to be on board with this idea.
One thing that could be a thing of the past are theme-based pay-per-views. There has been lots of talk of more pay-per-view changes for 2013, and Vince feels that the themed-based shows have had "a zero sum gain." Vince is hearing all ideas right now, although nothing has caught his eye.
I'm all for less gimmicky PPV's but who thinks a bunch of themed RAW's was a good idea? Some ideas like a King of the ring episode sounds good but who wants to see RAW roulette again? A couple of themed episodes to help the low ratings periods I am on board with but please don't over do it.
