Watching wrestlers make it

I've been an RoH fanboy for quite a few years. I've seen many guys come and go from the company to various levels of success. I've followed the company online, watched it on HDNET then FOX, and have been to many of their live shows when they come up to Toronto. I made this thread to discuss a weird feeling I have when seeing certain wrestlers make it to the "big time". Watching guys grow from RoH and move on to TNA or WWE makes me feel somehow more connected to them. I guess the closest thing I can compare it to is when you watch an indy band you've seen live in small bar settings, blow up and become mainstream.

I was able to see CM Punk, Samoa Joe, Bryan Danielson, Nigel McGuinness (Desmond Wolfe), Austin Aries, Claudio Castagnoli (Antonio Cesaro), Tyler Black (Seth Rollins), Chris Hero (Kassius Ohno) etc compete before my eyes, and watched them grow into superstars of the business. I feel a sort of connection to them that I don't feel for other guys. They're my guys, even though I know I didn't have any impact on their careers, I feel that since I was with them from the start that I appreciate them more than the average fan.

This may sound weird, I'm not quite sure if I'm explaining this properly. Does anyone else have this feeling when it comes to indy guys you have followed? I know that if/when Generico debuts on RAW/Smackdown I'm going to mark harder than when the Rock came back. Maybe because I've seen him 2 feet in front of me, I've given him a high five, he's reacted to my inane yelling in the stands. I've seen him go from unknown to national prime time TV.

I'll stop rambling now and hope I've made some sense, lol.

This is why I wish I could hit up a few indie shows, seeing Punk would be my ideal (I know it's fanboyish but he was my first indie mark guy)

Anyway proper tempted to hit something like this up, look at the talent Dibiase SR, Steen and Gargano.

Do it if you can, whenever you can. The nitrate setting is so much better than going to a Big WWE show, except WM ofc.

I definitely need to get my ass down to Gothenburg (Sweden's second biggest city) sometime and catch a GBG Wrestling show. They are Sweden's biggest and best run promotion. They are to Sweden, what Preston City is to the UK. That well run promotion that is making wrestling popular (again in the case of the UK). There is a promotion run in Stockholm as well but it doesn't do as big a venue. GBG is actually drawing really nice crowds.

The wrestlers in it are pretty talented as well. They are currently running an international program against Denmark's biggest promotion as well, with the Swedish heels siding with the Danish (damn the Danish :aries: ). If I ever wind up living in Gothenburg I might look up getting trained and picking up wrestling as well.

Oh and on topic. Totally get you Senhor from my music side of things. I e seen so many bands at 100-250 capacity venues then seen em go huge and its so freaking cool.
