Warner Bros. has been keen to build its portfolio lately, having earlier made a bid for Eidos before Square Enix made their purchase. In seeking to purchase Midway, Warner Bros. is apparently most interested in the Mortal Kombat and Strangehold titles, as well as retro properties like Joust, Galaga and Gauntlet.

According to one of MCV's sources, "Warner is pretty confident that they will get Midway - which will be an immediate boost to their portfolio. The deal isn't done yet. Midway is still open to offers from other potential buyers - but Warner looks to be favorite to wrap it up. They look ready to put the money on the table."
Midway may still unload its franchises separately, but at the moment, the going rate is $30 million. Hopefully this will all go down quickly -- we want to to play LEGO Mortal Kombat.
Midway are nearly outta money and Warner want to chuck $30 million at them? Dayum.

So, Warner looks like a knight here... And I agree, Warner acquiring Midway would be a boost to the portfolio. Mortal Kombat and potentially, Stranglehold are great games, and Midways classic titles are just that; Classics.

just because warner purchases midway doesn't mean you'll get lego mortal kombat.

lego license is owned by Travelers Tales. Warner or Midway would have to negotiate a joint deal for a lego mk game just as Lucas Arts did to do Lego Indiana Jones & Lego Star Wars and Warner Bros did for Lego Batman & as EA is now doing for the upcoming Lego Rock Band.
