Waldburger vs. Pyle promoted to UFC 170 main card, Chavez vs. Cedeno joins prelims
This month’s UFC 170 event has undergone some late changes, and the pay-per-view lineup has a new bout while the online prelims also have a new addition.
UFC 170 takes place Feb. 22 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The main card, featuring a championship headliner between women’s bantamweight titleholder Ronda Rousey and fellow Olympic medalist Sara McMann, airs on PPV following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Following the recent cancellation of a lightweight bout between Rafael dos Anjos (20-6 MMA, 9-4 UFC) and Rustam Khabilov (17-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC), welterweights Mike Pyle (25-9-1 MMA, 8-4 UFC) and T.J. Waldburger (16-8 MMA, 4-3 UFC) have been elevated from the FOX Sports 1 prelims to the PPV main card.
Pyle vs. Waldburger’s open slot on the FOX Sports 1 prelims hasn’t yet been filled.
However, there are three options from the UFC Fight Pass online prelims, including today’s newly announced bout between UFC lightweight newcomers Ernest Chavez (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), a five-year pro who went 2-0 with two knockouts in 2013, and Yosdenis Cedeno (9-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC), a CFA vet who’s riding a six-fight winning streak.
