UFC middleweight contender, Vitor Belfort has today revealed the incredible news that the Las Vegas based promotion are planning more than fifteen events across Brazil in 2013, making the South American country it’s number one focus moving forward by quite a margin.

Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Belfort said:

“To me it’s a good thing mainly because I have family in Belo Horizonte. I love this city. I feel at home anywhere I am in Brazil. I love Brazil, I love Brazilian people. Each state has a special charm and value. Belo Horizonte deserves it.â€

“I’m glad they believed in Brazil… I’m happy to know we’re moving to Belo Horizonte. I love people there, my folks are from there, I have one of my sponsors there (BMG). As an executive (of UFC in Brazil), I told them that UFC needs to go other states too. They told me they’re up to more than 15 events next year, they’re reaching all Brazilian states.â€

The two coaches of “The Ultimate Fighter Brazil†will square off on June 23rd in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil alongside the finalists in what is likely to be one of the most memorable events for a long time. The event will likely be headlined by this fight after the rumour surfaced that the middleweight title rematch between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen will be moved to UFC 148. Stay tuned to MMABay for more on this as we get it.

Seems kind of unrealistic. I mean They've had good success in Brazil over the last few years but 15 events in Brazil seems a little too much. Also have to consider that the UFC wants to go to Italy, Germany, China and Ireland within the next year or so plus what they do in the United States normally through out the year.

That is insane. Surely they can pull it off... but... that is a lot of shows in Brazil.

Speaking of the picture in your signature, Vitor also came out and said he would like a rematch with Anderson Silva.

I don't believe it at all in fact I would be surprised if UFC run more than 5 events in Brazil in 2013. There are too many other countries that they want to fight in, they don't have enough fighters to fill this many cards with top fights and I can't see the money in running more than an event each month in Brazil.
