As the question states.

I think McMahon is a marketing genius, and diffenatly not a creative genius.

Hulk Hogan - Created his Hulkamania gimmick while in the AWA. Was a huge draw in AWA, Japan and Florida. Only changes made to gimmick by Vince McMahon: Colours and theme music.

Ultimate Warrior. - Big draw using Warrior gimmick. Only changes made by Vince McMahon: Theme music and name tweek (Dingo to ultimate).

Steve Austin
- Formally known as Ring Master. Gimmick was inspired by the ECW character, Sandman.

Hart Foundation - Bret Hart's idea to put together the tag team based on the similar surname (Bret Hart, Jimmy Hart, Jim Neidhart). They came up with their own costumes.

Vince helped ECW talent by plugging their first ever PPV and giving them air time. Vince also admits he took talent but his take on it was he compensated Paul Heyman while Eric Bischoff blatently stole talent and did nothing about it.

These and alot more are examples of how Vince Mcmahon is not a creative genius but a genius at marketing the character created by other people. If you put a grea character or idea in the hands of Vince McMahon he can market it and get the most out of it.

comments people..if u can come up with more examples stating whether Vince is a marketing or creative genius, very much appreciated..

Vince is a marketing genius no question. I mean the entire Attitude Era was inspired by ECW, Vince was just smart enough to apply it to his own company without outright copying it. Same with pretty much every other success he's had. And I don't hate him for it, if anything its smart and a sign of a good buisiness man.

He is a marketing genius. Plain and simple. He has writers that cover the creative side of his company. He may add in ideas or what not but he only really has the final yes or no saying. If its a yes it goes, if not then the creative team goes back to the drawing board. He is marketing all the way...hence why Rey, Cena, and Batista are pushed...becuase its better for sales.

vince is a marketing genius but don't forget he learnt a lot from his dad who was already one of the most successful promoters in the usa.scott hall came up with the razor ramon gimmick.vince saw this could work so allowed scott to go along with the razor gimmick.

Why is vince making cena like a next hogan? I mean hes had his creative ways but not as much as marketing. I think hes got the writers for creativness so all he has to do is market.

J.R. Should go back creativity and finding wrestlers. After all it was JR who found Steve Austin and Y2J.

It really doesnt matter. Vince is a marketing genious. No one likes whats going on in the WWE today. But, somehow, people still watch it, still buy DVDs, still buy shirts. Vince really doesnt have to worry about creativness. He has a good show at just the right times to keep us watching the bad shows. That is simply how it is. The WWE will not make any MAJOR moves to get new, credible, creative, however you want to put it talent, until people stop watching the bad while waiting for the good.

Another big creative thing that happened in WWE. The Kliq. Everybody liked em. They came up with the storylines, the promos. Vince just sold everyone on it. Of course until Vince pissed them off about it, and they went public, and all that mumbo jumbo. lol

Vince was on VH1's "Fabulous life of Billionares:rags to riches" the other day and they mentioned he used to live with his mother and step-father in a trailor home til he meet his dad and blah, blah, blah, he won.
I think hes creative, just that his writers are too busy fucking around instead of taking the storys seriously. so yeah I think Vincent KENNEDY Mcmahon is creative, but not a genius like Bill Gates.

i will just answer. both of them...

Thats right, im surprised no one else said both. Vince didnt create the attitude era huh? Oh thats right, he just created a lil thing called Monday Night Raw! The only concept behind raw was a more edgy underground show from the start in 93. Oh whats the other creative thing he did? Oh yeah, bought out all the local terriorties and made a global phemenon. Can't forget about WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series and SummerSlam. The guy is a wrestling Business genius.

Whoa Whoa Whoa. You're putting words in alot of mouths there. I definitely like what WWE's doing right now. They've got me hooked on the main event scene of Raw esp. right now. So don't go telling people what they do and don't like.

Vince McMahon is both. If he wasn't both he wouldn't be where he is. The man knows how to create (creativity) a show week in and week out. Yeah he might get some people to help him come up with ideas, but that's smart because the man probably has a lot on his plate constantly.

And Vince McMahon knows how to sell the product he creates (marketing) because as far as I know, Vince can take a shit and wipe his ass with a hundred and not think twice about it.

So there you have it, he's both.

What can be said that hasn't already been said? Vince is a marketing AND creative genius. He knows what he is doing behind the scenes in his own business and if he didn't like the story-lines his writers were giving out he would just throw them out on their asses.

he's both....he has to be.....otherwise he wouldn't be where he is right now and WWE would still be another wrestling company that is watched in a particular region only
