Vince McMahon is back from medical leave and contributed to the creative process for Monday's WWE Raw.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that McMahon made changes to Monday night's Raw episode. McMahon wasn't at Raw in person but contributed remotely. There were also multiple changes to the show made by WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque.
Meltzer didn't know what changes McMahon made to Raw, but he heard that they were probably changes for the better. There were many changes made.
Meltzer said:
Vince McMahon is back. He made multiple changes to the show tonight. There were also multiple changes made by [Paul] Levesque at the last minute. So the show was -- a lot of stuff wasn't advertised on the show, like most of it. And the reason is because they were changing all day long. But Vince is back, Vince made significant changes to the show. I don't know what the changes were. I'm sure that they will probably come out tomorrow. One person who just mentioned it to me, and then I asked some others and they said -- all I heard was that they were probably changes for the better. But there were many of them.
But Vince is back from his surgery leave. He's back in the chair. He was not in Roanoke, He was involved in the production of the show via remote. Going forward, he's the guy. He's the chairman. And he's running the wrestling company. I know that there's the whole thing of he's second in command to Ari Emanuel, or tied for second in command -- I think Mark Shapiro's at the same level, but when it comes to wrestling, Ari Emanuel is very willing to say, ‘I don't know wrestling. He knows wrestling.' So it's Vince's baby when it comes to the creative end. It's Vince's baby when it comes to decision-making on the company and all that. Ari Emanuel, Nick Khan, and Mark Shapiro are going to be the guys who are handling the TV negotiations. That they will do. Even then, Vince will have power to a degree over that. But that's a pretty heavy crew of people when you have Ari and Nick Khan together on these new round of negotiations.
McMahon underwent major spinal surgery in July. The surgery was said to have lasted for over four hours.
In August, WWE disclosed that federal law enforcement agents executed a search warrant and federal grand jury subpoena on McMahon. No charges have been brought in the investigations. WWE said they believe it's a continuation of the investigation that began in 2022 when claims of misconduct were made against McMahon.
"On July 17, 2023, federal law enforcement agents executed a search warrant and served a federal grand jury subpoena on Mr. McMahon. No charges have been brought in these investigations," WWE said. "The Company has received voluntary and compulsory legal demands for documents, including from federal law enforcement and regulatory agencies, concerning the investigation and related subject matters."
McMahon's return from medical leave comes at the same time as Endeavor and WWE are closing their deal to create TKO Group Holdings, a merged company with the UFC. The deal becomes official today.
TKO, WWE, and UFC are represented at the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday. Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel is ringing the opening bell:
