The UFC has released a training video with former champ Mauricio Rua working on his strength and conditioning. While none of other the workouts looked particularly new or impressive, there was one interesting and high tech workout designed to help him have a faster reaction time and better focus. This device he used, the 'Nike Sparq Vapor Strobe'. Here's what Strobe Sensory Training does:

Nike Vapor Strobe Glasses work by blocking most of the vision of either both eyes or one eye at a time for eight different periods of time. Nike made it so the higher the setting, the less time one sees out of each cycle. The athlete wears the glasses while doing training drills. The Nike Strobe Training Glasses teach the user to more efficiently judge distances, depth, movements, position of self and objects of regard, and hand-eye coordination.

Basically, these glasses keep flashing intermittently. It temporary blocks his vision and makes it harder to react quicker or to avoid strikes. The goal is that by getting used to working out on these conditions, Shogun will learn to anticipate movement better, so once he removes the glasses, he should be able to react better to his opponent's strikes.
