My first video gaming experience was on the Atari 2600. My most recent is PS5. I have owned just about everything in between. My question for those who have played video games for a long time, graduating from console to console, what do you think about the progression of games? Do you think games were better when they focused more on fun factor than creating the games now that are basically long movies? Do you like the more in depth details of the games overall, or, did you like it better in simpler times when you could just turn on a sonic or mario game to have fun and not have to watch a million cut scenes? Do you prefer the old school simple commands, or, the 80 different buttons to press to pull of a fatality? Are you just a fan of the gaming progression in general?
For me, I play everything, no matter how simple of a game it is or how detailed the overall product is. What kind of game I want to play is up to the moment. Sometimes, I feel like an easy, but, fun, classic, other times, I like to play a game that feels near impossible and pisses me off. Visuals are not a huge deal to me, most of the time. I have played a few games that were just downright ugly and couldn't stay interested in playing it, but, games like Super Mario, I can play all day, regardless of graphics (which aren't terrible, anyway, they're fun).
