In a rather unique story surrounding referees, one referee actually disqualified a fighter for refusing to engage in any kind of action. Back earlier this month at RFA 15, referee Mike Beltrain disqualified Daniel Aguilar from his fight against Sam Toomer because.. quite simply, he didn't want to fight.
The fight saw Aguilar constantly scoot down to his butt and wanting to fight on the ground but Toomer was having none of it, and apparently neither was the referee. After a series of butt scoots which saw Aguilar flop to the ground and refuse to stand with Toomer, Beltran called for the bell in which Aguilar protested.
Many people may not believe the call was just, however, if one is look deep into the rule of the MMA rulebook it is an actual foul should a fighter fail to engage in any action whatsoever.
Aguilar has had all 10 of his career wins comes by way of submission. And this time, it seems like he was a little too desperate to get another one. A video of which can be found below.

Wow, that is seriously lame shit right there. It's no wonder I'm so critical of grapplers, you want the fight on the ground? You earn it by fighting on the feet... bitch.

Unified Rules of MMA said:23. Timidity (avoiding contact, or consistently dropping the mouthpiece, or faking an injury)
Timidity is defined as any fighter who purposely avoids contact with his opponent, or runs away from the action of the fight. Timidity can also be called by the referee for any attempt by a fighter to receive time by falsely claiming a foul, injury, or purposely dropping or spitting out their mouthpiece or other action designed to stall the fight.
