For a long time, people were pleading for WWE to give the ball to Matt Hardy. This year, one way or the other it has been Hardy's break out year in singles competition. He finally won the US championship early this year, but that was truly a lackluster reign.

However, WWE showed they really wanted to give him the ball somehow, and he got drafted to ECW, where since winning the belt, the entire brand has been build around him and he has been the top face in ECW in a long time.

Do you think having Matt Hardy as the main wrestler in ECW has worked? Has Hardy proved he can be the top dog on a brand if given the chance?

I have seen not one fault with Matt Hardy's push as of yet. He has put on good matches, his promos have improved and he has proved that he can be a main event player in the WWE. After a lengthy run with the ECW title I see the WWE putting enough faith in Hardy to go to a major brand and capture one of the big two titles. As of right now, there is nothing stopping that from happening. By the end of 2010, I am almost certain that both Hardy brothers will have been World Champions.

Matt Hardy is just one yawn after the other. He has the personality of a toenail, I really cannot stand him as this goody-goody el generico no character person he portrays now.

Hardy proved back in the Mattitude days he could be an awesome heel, but this face role is awful. You can't even call it a 'character'. I will not die~! Yeah, we've heard that from every lightweight face since Shawn Michaels popularised the role, the ultimate underdog, tenacious, etc. and it's wayyyy overdone.

I not much of a Matt Hardy Fan. Good for the midcard and I agree with the above post about the V-1 gimmick - that was great - but to be honest I just don't see him as a full on ME guy.

Well it's worked. But it's not the "breakout" people wanted. His boig supporters wanted him to hae the wwe or WHC title, not the ecw... But, with that being said, at least he has something, and they are letting him be top guy on ecw, so it's pretty good.

Matt Hardy means very little to me. His character is boring beyond words at present, there's no personality there whatsoever. I'm not saying turn the guy heel neccessarily, just give him some Mattitude!

I think Matt is pretty good tbh. Much like everyone else I would like V1 to return though. Like Rae said Mattitude doesn't have to be a heel, heck just let him wear the jacket during his ring entrance, because although he's on par or better with guys like MVP and Kennedy his character is nothing. Jeff kinda has the same deal except he does crazy shit while Matt just puts on good matches.

Yeah it works...but only because he's on ECW. That shit would never work on RAW or Smackdown....which is why he never held a major title on either brand. Matt's in ring performances have been a bit iffy IMO lately...he's very........slow. He's almost awkward to watch lately. He doesn't seem like he ever completely physically bounced back from the appendix and knee think (physique wise). I think a return to Mattitude would be the way to go...it would definately help him out a lot. V1 was honestly one of my favorite gimmicks ever...the Matt facts...priceless. I'm sure he'll hold the title for a few more months...there's really no one else to give it to on ECW right now....Finlay? Boogeyman?... No one worth while except Morrison who is still involved with Mizzorison

He's already hugely over with the fans, so I don't really see anything different for him to "breakout." There's nothing really that's going to change with him, it's not like the fans have turned on him or just got bored. He's consistent, so you always know what you're going to get with Matt. But there really is no competition at all on ECW, so it's not entirely his fault that he's not "entertaining".

Yeah he's the top dog on ECW but what does that amount to nothing? ECW ratings were higher pre draft so it's debatble if he attracts anyone to the show. He has injured himslef once more so he's not durable. Yeah, he may be over and the top champ on a brand. Nut mark Henry was on top of ECW, did anyone consider him a top dog? Did anyone consider him a credible main eventer? Sure some may, but many people believe ECW is a joke and that the title has meant nothing, some people say it's lower than the midcard belts. Saying that Hardy's ECW reign, has showed me he can't have a top bramd title without support. Up until last week I thought Matt was the more wellrounded of the Hardy's, but Matt has proven to be dull, and uniteresting.

If you ask me it's actually a low in his career. He has been on top with victories over Kane, Taker, and many others in the past and now what is he doing? Taking on the US and IC champ. How does it make the ECW have any bit of reconistion when the champ is taking on Mid carders? Also all there doing on ECW is having him in Mark Henry vs. Hardy XVIII. It's getting old already, bump someone like Jack Swagger up and have him fight them already.

same here...i used to consider Matt the better Hardy. I think that has drastically changed. I can't see Matt ever pulling off a match like we saw between Jeff and Taker. And the ECW title being second tier isn't even a question...they made it silver for fuck's sake..it's the silver medal.

i dont mind Matt hardy.. But ECW has a Lackluster depth of potential solid performers for him to feud with...

He has already feuding with henry and had a few matches with finlay.. but who is next for Hardy... (there is morrison/miz, but iu think WWE trying to bulid them as a big team duo to re-born tag team title)

so I guess so choice could be: Maybe kozlov or Umaga could go To ECW and feud with him or even put the returning Mr Kennedy on ECW to revive his career inwhich i think was hurt by his face stint....

I like Matt hardy as ECW champion because he is a wrestler that you can bulid your youth talent around him and a clean loss to matt hardy won't damage his career as it would to there higher up talent...
