Unlocking Xbox Achievements may soon get you free MSP

If you are what's commonly referred to as an "Achievements Whore", you may soon have a real incentive to rake in those Xbox Gamerscore points besides feeling good about yourself on Xbox forums.

Microsoft has teased that it will soon be offering new 'rewards' based on the unlocking of Achievements in Xbox 360 games.
The announcement came from the official Twitter feed of the Xbox Live Rewards website, which teased, "Coming Fall: a new way to earn Rewards based on your Achievements!"

Further prying for details was dismissed by the MS rep, but those familiar with the Xbox Live Rewards site will know that it's a loyalty program that offers free Microsoft Points as rewards for completing specific and varying tasks.

That considered, we expect some Achievement-related MS Point rewards coming this Autumn. And that sounds pretty good to us.

People must of just assumed it will be MSP. Xbox might just come out with a new way to reward people but if it is MSP it does sounds interesting. I know it wont be much MSP, but hell, I'll take it! And people will say they'll do the achievement mod but the achievements will most likely have to be verified closely every x amount (probably 5000 or so) and done online, and this is another way they can closely monitor gamerscore cheaters.

Or it could be something along the lines of complete this set of achievements for this game to get X amount of points, each month it will change.

I'e held out hope for some time now for Microsoft to put more effort into incentive schemes and loyalty programs, and achievements are a nice way to integrate that. I'm about to hit 70,000 G so I hope that's rewarded in some way.

The only drawback is that achievements are supposedly quite easy to hack. So that will obviously become more abused.
