The Texas-based Shark Fights promotion has added further starpower to its already loaded Sept. 11 card.

The organization announced Monday that former EliteXC and UFC fighter Paul Daley (24-9-2) has signed a one-fight deal and is slated to compete at Shark Fights 13.

Daley's opponent will be announced in the coming weeks, according to officials.

Sharks Fights 13 takes place at the Amarillo Civic Center in Amarillo, Texas.

"Words cannot express how elated we are that Paul Daley has agreed to fight for our organization," Shark Fights president Brent Medley stated. "Daley is arguably one of the best 170-pound fighters in the world.

"We are currently in the process of choosing Daley's opponent. Several marquee fighters are being considered, and a decision will be made very soon. This is shaping up to be an incredible card. Numerous A-list fighters have been confirmed for the Shark Fights 13 roster."

Daley joins a card that already includes Keith Jardine (15-8-1) vs. Trevor Prangley (22-6-1), Houston Alexander (10-6) vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (9-6), and Drew McFedries (8-6) vs. Joey Villasenor (27-7)

Daley, a former Cage Rage champion and longtime veteran of the British fight circuit, made his UFC debut in 2009. Although he went 2-1 in the organization and was a win away from a title shot, a post-fight punch thrown at UFC 113 opponent Josh Koscheck prompted Dana White to cut him from the roster.

"I'm very excited to be fighting in the U.S. again," Daley stated. "Despite my conduct during the Koscheck fight, which I agree is inexcusable, fans in the United States have been very supportive. For that I am very grateful."

Daley returned earlier this month at the Australian-based Impact FC 2 event, where he submitted Daniel Acacio (21-10) with a crushing elbow strike to the head. He's now 5-1 in his past six fights, and all of the wins have come via stoppage.
