Heavyweight prospect Todd Duffee (6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) is a free agent.

A little more than one year after Duffee burst onto the UFC scene with a seven-second knockout of Tim Hague, the 24-year-old is no longer employed by the sport's largest mixed martial arts promotion.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) learned of the UFC's decision from multiple sources with knowledge of the move, and Duffee's manager, Alex Davis, confirmed the report.

Davis declined to comment further on the matter or speculate as to the reason behind the UFC's decision.

Duffee wasn't immediately available for comment when contacted by MMAjunkie.com.

Following his record-breaking win over Hague (officially the fastest knockout in UFC's history), Duffee was defeated by Mike Russow at UFC 114 in one of the most dramatic turnarounds in the organization's history. Duffee was in control of the fight for the first two-and-a-half rounds before a right hand left him flat on his back.

Nevertheless, Duffee was targeted for a bout with Jon Madsen at October's UFC 121 event. A lingering knee injury forced him out of the planned contest, and Gilbert Yvel stepped in to take the fight.

It's not immediately evident what Duffee plans to do next, but the massive heavyweight will undoubtedly demand interest from organizations both U.S-based and overseas.

Hmmmmm, interesting. I wonder what happened here??? The guy scores the fastest KO in UFC history, then has a fight controlled for 2 and 1/2 rounds only to get caught and they let him go. Not to mention Duffee has scored KO/TKO's in all 6 of his career victories. Too bad the Bellator Heavyweight tournament already started. I hope Bjorn Rebney gets to him before Scott Coker does.

Im hoping not gates. I have a feeling Bellator will jump on him. Bellator likes brining in UFC vets, and they could definitely use him. To be honest, Im more impressed with Bellator than Strikeforce. If you have Fox Sports Net, keep your eys out Thursday nights. I'll see if I can find any news on where Duffee may sign.

Wow, I have to say this is pretty unexpected. I am not a huge Duffee fan, but I thought he had loads of potential to move up in the Heavyweight ranks, needless to say I am pretty curious to see where he ends up.

honestly if Dana knew that Randy was just going to be a bitch and avoid everything and MMA fight a Boxer (wait he didn't even do that, he puled a gracie)

Well anyway, if Dana knew that Randy was going to do what he did, I don't understand why he didn't throw Tod Duffee in their just to prove a point. Evolution of HW MMA against world Champion Boxing Vet. Toney still would of drew the same numbers no matter what. if you followed MMA hardcore-like it was obvious that a Wrestler is going to beat a boxer, unless the wrestler is willing to prove something, Personally I thought a soon to beretired Coture had nothing to lose but mer. so those guys probably went to the bar to see it.

With a Weak as fucccccccck HW divison and having Joe Rogan spew bullshit like calling Tod Duffe the ' future protoype of the HW divison' this would of maked sense and would got you more bang for your buck.

He'll be back, HW divison is weak as fuck and soon the other divisons will be just as exposed. If GSP doesn't dominate Koscheck, or even lose then that will expose the MW divison. Koscheck had to supposably cheat to win his past two fights. I don't say this shit but the experts do. the Lightweight divison is about to be exposed when Gray Maynayd Gray and prays Frankie. 205 divison is actually exposed right now since it's a four way love triangle between shogun/rashad/machida/rampage. If Rampage beats Machida then yeah that divison has it's holes too. No one likes a divison where no one can seperate each other from the bottom. Rampage's lack of MMa knowledge exposed 205 badly. Jon Jones is a iffy and Lesnar needs his hulk hogan to his rowdy roddy piper .

Their 265 division isn't that weak really. On the other hand it's never been that strong. You have Lesnar, JDS, Velasquez, Carwin, Big Country, Ben Rothwell, Big Nog is probably still good for 2 or 3 fights, Mir is still solid, and add in some pretty good young up and comers like Struve, Schaub, and Travis Browne, they have a pretty good 265lb class. Much better than any other promotion going today.

As for Duffee, I've read on a few of the MMA sites, that he didn't have a good accord with Dana. I guess there were some words said on both parts about his past, and well you know Dana is never wrong..... I've heard good things about Duffee, but I've heard a lot of bad stuff about his attitude. If that's true, then we know Dana wants nothing to do with him.....at least for now.
