Hamman worked his way back to his feet only to be taken down into full mount. Dollaway went to an arm triangle that appeared deep but Hamman was able to survive. Dollaway responded by dropping huge punches to the head of Hamman. Eventually, Hamman used a failed attempt by Dollaway to take the back standing to end up on top himself. Hamman wound up taking the mount himself before moving to back control and allowing Dollaway to get to his feet. Dollaway closed the round landing big punches and rocking Hamman badly.
Both men would land in a big exchange in the second round before Hamman took over with volume and getting his punches around the arms of Dollaway before getting on top on side control as they hit the ground. Hamman moved to the full mount and landed a flurry of blows. Eventually Dollaway was not able to stop the attack and referee Herb Dean was forced to jump in.
This was Jared Hamman's middleweight debut and one that showed a lot of promise for his future in the UFC.
