Noke was able to get Herman on his back after initially being taken down. Herman was surprising in his submission attempts off his back, at one point appearing close to finishing an armbar in the middle of the first round. Later in the first round Herman managed to lock up a heel hook and force Noke to submit.
It is possible that the inside heel hook did damage to the knee of Noke who screamed out as he tapped out. Herman said that he heard it "crunch and pop" which is likely not a good thing for the next year of Noke's career.
This was Herman's second win since returning from a near two year layoff due to knee injuries.
