Michael Johnson showed some improved striking in the opening bout of UFC on Versus 4, where he defeated Edward Faaloloto by TKO at 4:42 of the first round. He landed a huge left hand that dropped Faaloloto, and finished it up with some heavy ground and pound. The referee saw that Faaloloto wasn't intelligently defending himself and stepped in to end the fight.

Faaloloto started off with some heavy leg kicks in an action-packed first minute of the fight. Johnson pushed Faaloloto against the cage and ate a big inside elbow that opened up a cut over Johnson's eye. Johnson got a brief takedown, but Faaloloto popped right back up. The middle of the round slowed down a bit, with Faaloloto landing more kicks and Johnson responding with some nice combinations. After another brief takedown from Johnson and some good work from Johnson with the thai clinch, they opened up in the middle of the cage and Johnson dropped Faaloloto with the huge left. The end came shortly thereafter.

Faaloloto, a five year veteran of the US Navy, began his Zuffa career in the WEC where he lost to Anthony Njokuani via TKO at WEC 52. This was his first fight in the UFC. Johnson made it to the finals of The Ultimate Fighter 12 after trying out for the third time, but was defeated by Jonathan Brookins at the TUF 12 Finale in December. After looking at taking a fight outside the organization, he was matched up with Faaloloto and didn't compete in his scheduled NAFC matchup.
