UFC on FOX 9 winners Bobby Green, Abel Trujillo booked for UFC 169

A pair of this past weekend’s biggest lightweight winners will return to action quickly, and against each other.

Bobby Green (22-5 MMA, 3-0 UFC) and Abel Trujillo (11-5 MMA, 2-1 UFC), who each picked up significant wins at UFC on FOX 9 this past Saturday, have been booked to fight at UFC 169 in February.

UFC 169 takes place on Feb. 1 at Prudential Center at Newark, N.J. The evening’s main card airs on pay-per-view while prelims are expected to air on FOX Sports 1. A pair of title fights headlines the Super Bowl Saturday card as bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz returns to meet interim champ Renan Barao in a title unification bout, and featherweight champ Jose Aldo defends against Ricardo Lamas.

Green will be fighting for the third time in about three months. At UFC on FOX 9, he stepped in for Jamie Varner and outpointed Pat Healy. That win came a little more than five weeks after he stopped James Krause with a body kick at UFC Fight Night 31 – though that stoppage was a somewhat controversial one. At his UFC debut in February, he picked up a “Submission of the Night†bonus for his stoppage of Jacob Volkmann. The Strikeforce veteran has won seven straight fights.

Trujillo was on his way to a “Knockout of the Night†bonus on Saturday before Demetrious Johnson stopped Joseph Benavidez in the main event. But he still picked up a big win in his rematch with Roger Bowling, a fight that was played back after the two had a controversial no-contest in August. The win over Bowling officially got the Blackzilians-based Trujillo back on track after a loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in May.

With the addition to the card, UFC 169 now includes:

Champ Dominick Cruz vs. interim champ Renan Barao – bantamweight title unification bout
Champ Jose Aldo vs. Ricardo Lamas – for featherweight title
Frank Mir vs. Alistair Overeem
Bobby Green vs. Abel Trujillo
Chris Cariaso vs. Kyoji Horiguchi
Nick Catone vs. Tom Watson
John Makdessi vs. Alan Patrick
Al Iaquinta vs. Kevin Lee
Neil Magny vs. Gasan Umalatov
Rashid Magomedov vs. Tony Martin
Ali Bagautinov vs. John Lineker
