UFC on FOX 13 confirmed for Dec. 13 in Phoenix
As expected UFC on FOX 13 will take place Dec. 13 and mark the organization’s debut in Arizona.
Back in May, UFC President Dana White first broke the news to MMAjunkie that U.S. Airways Arena in Phoenix was the likely venue for the event.
Following Saturday’s UFC on FOX 12 event in San Jose, he confirmed the plans.
Although the UFC has never put on an event in Arizona, the Phoenix area hosted the final card in WEC history, WEC 53 in Glendale, in 2010.
UFC on FOX 13, which will be the fourth and final network-televised UFC event of 2014, is likely to feature a main card on FOX following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
U.S. Airways Center, the home of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns NBA, can hold as many as 19,000 spectators for basketball games.
No fights have yet been targeted for the card, but the UFC has a number of fighters who are from Arizona or who train there, including former lightweight champion and Aug. 23 UFC Fight Night 49 headliner Benson Henderson, former WEC titleholder Jamie Varner and “The Ultimate Fighter 8†winner Ryan Bader.
