UFC Officially Applies For 'UFC 151: Jones Vs. Henderson'

According to MMAJunkie, the UFC has formally applied to hold UFC 151: Jones vs. Henderson at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.The UFC's request is on the docket for the Nevada State Athletic Commission's scheduled meeting this Thursday. The event is targeted for September 1.


In the main event, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will take on MMA legend Dan Henderson in his fourth title defense of what has been a remarkable title run, especially for a 24-year-old.


Riding a four-fight winning streak, Henderson was awarded the shot after waging war with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC 139 this past November and taking home a unanimous decision win.


The only other bout currently rumored for the event is a featherweight contest between Dennis Siver and Eddie Yagin.

Can't wait for this fight, looking for Jones to win but I'm still not so sure.

This is going to be great. As for who will win I can't go against Jon Jones, he keeps beating every challenger thrown his way and I can't see this changing. Henderson was awesome against Shogun and at least we know that he will push Jones and won't hesitate to get close to Jones.

This fight will be absolutely insane. It'll be nice to see what happens when Henderson has Jones pushed up against the cage since that is normally when Henderson shines but Jones is good to and especially at separation you know Jones is gonna throw an elbow. Its like everywhere that Hendo is good at Jones has something for him. But the standup and when they get close is gonna get interesting cause Jones likes that reach and keeping people back until he can deliver his spins... Hendo likes to get in and brawl and can take shots.

This fight is gonna be awesome. Edge to Jones for me.
