UFC Fight Night 42 salaries: Diego Sanchez takes home largest disclosed payday
A controversial decision win assured that Diego Sanchez earned the largest disclosed fight purse at this past weekend’s UFC Fight Night 42 event.
Sanchez took home $140,000 ($70,000 of which was a win bonus) at the June 7 event, which took place at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, N.M.
Sanchez earned a surprising win over lightweight Ross Pearson in the FOX Sports 1-televised co-headliner. Pearson earned $30,000, though unofficially, he earned $60,000 since UFC President Dana White said Pearson will be paid an extra $30,000 to make up for the win bonus he didn’t receive on fight night.
Former lightweight champion Benson Henderson ($90,000), who submitted Rustam Khabilov ($17,000) in UFC Fight Night 42′s main event, was the other top earner.
The total disclosed payroll for the event was $678,000.

Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors, which can oftentimes be a substantial portion of a fighter’s income. They also do not include any other “locker room†or special discretionary bonuses the UFC sometimes pays.
For example, as previously reported, UFC officials handed out additional $50,000 UFC Fight Night 42 bonuses to Henderson, Hallman, Jorgensen and Martinez.
In other words, the above figures are simply base salaries reported to the commission and do not reflect entire compensation packages for the event.
