UFC Fight Night 36 medical suspensions: Lyoto Machida gets longest term
Although he now appears to be clear of serious injury, Lyoto Machida received the longest suspension of fighters at UFC Fight Night 36.
Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA) today released medical suspensions from the event, which took place this past Saturday at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil.
Machida, who outpointed Gegard Mousasi in the night’s headliner, received a 180-day suspension but can be cleared to fight if he produces an X-ray that shows his left foot isn’t broken, as he reported following the five-round bout.
According to a report from MMAFighting.com, Machida already underwent an X-ray that will clear him to fight.
Main-card fighters Cristiano Marcello and Takenori Sato received the second most significant suspensions. Marcello lost a hard-fought decision to Joe Proctor, while Sato was quickly TKOd by Erick Silva; both received 45-day suspensions.
All 22 fighters on the card received a minimum suspension of 14 days with seven days no contact.
