UFC Fight Night 36 lineup finalized, seven prelims on UFC Fight Pass
The lineup is set for next month’s UFC Fight Night 36 event, which is the UFC’s first Brazilian event of 2014.
UFC Fight Night 36 takes place Feb. 15 at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Caarina, Brazil. The night’s main card airs on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on UFC Fight Pass.
The headliner features former UFC champion and Brazilian star Lyoto Machida (20-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC), who meets ex-Strikeforce/DREAM champion and fellow middleweight Gegard Mousasi (34-3-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC). The title hopefuls are slated for a five-rounder.
Additional middleweight contenders meet in the co-headliner as Francis Carmont (22-7 MMA, 6-0 UFC) takes on Ronaldo Souza (19-3 MMA, 2-0 UFC). Carmont has won 11 straight while Souza has posted five consecutive victories since losing his Strikeforce belt in 2011.
Rounding out the main card are welterweights Takenori Sato (17-8-7 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. Erick Silva (15-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC), welterweights Viscardi Andrade (17-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) vs. Nicholas Musoke (11-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC), and featherweights Thiago Tavares (18-5-1 MMA, 8-5-1 UFC) vs. Zubair Tuhugov(15-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC).
