UFC Fight Night 36 bonuses: Silva, Oliveira earn first 'performance' bonuses
JARAGUA DO SUL, Brazil – Lyoto Machida, Gegard Mousasi, Erick Silva and Charles Oliveira earned $50,000 fight-night bonuses at UFC Fight Night 36.
UFC officials announced the winners following the event.
UFC Fight Night 36 took place Saturday at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The main card aired on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on UFC Fight Pass.
It was the first event since the UFC restructured its fight-night bonus system. Although “Fight of the Night†awards remain, “KO of the Night†and “Submission of the Night†bonuses were replaced with “Performance of the Night†awards.
Machida, who earned a clear-cut unanimous-decision win over fellow middleweight Mousasi in the headliner, shared “Fight of the Night†honors with his opponent, and they’re both now $50,000 richer.
On a decision-heavy card, Silva was an easy pick for a “Performance of the Night†bonus after he stopped fellow welterweight Takenori Sato with punches in just 52 seconds.
Oliveira, meanwhile, ended a string of seven straight decisions with a third-round submission win over durable featherweight Andy Ogle.
All of the bonus winners came from the night’s main card.
