UFC Fight Night 35 medical suspensions: Derek Brunson draws indefinite term
After a fight with Yoel Romero that left him with a broken jaw, Derek Brunson unsurprisingly received the most serious medical suspension arising from Wednesday’s UFC Fight Night 35 event.
MMAjunkie today requested and received a list of medical suspensions from the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission, which oversaw the event at Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga., just north of Atlanta.
UFC Fight Night 35’s main card aired live on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. In the headliner, middleweight Luke Rockhold stopped Constantinos Philippou via first-round TKO. Philippou received a 30-day suspension while Rockhold received a mandatory seven-day term.
Sixteen fighters on the card received the Georgia commission’s mandatory suspension while the remaining eight received longer terms for more serious injuries.
Among those with longer terms was main-card fighter Cole Miller, who broke his hand in a featherweight bout with Sam Sicilia. Miller announced his injury immediately following the bout.

Ramsey Nijem: mandatory seven-day suspension
Justin Edwards: suspended 30 days for laceration over left eye
Elias Silverio: mandatory seven-day suspension
Isaac Vallie-Flagg: suspended 30 days for laceration over left eye
Trevor Smith: suspended 30 days for laceration to forehead
Brian Houston: mandatory seven-day suspension
Louis Smolka: mandatory seven-day suspension
Alptekin Ozkilic: mandatory seven-day suspension
Vinc Pichel: mandatory seven-day suspension
Garett Whiteley: mandatory seven-day suspension
Beneil Dariush: mandatory seven-day suspension
Charlie Brenneman: mandatory seven-day suspension
