Jose Aldo Jr. vs. Josh Grispi for the new UFC featherweight title has been added to the 1/1 UFC PPV show in Las Vegas as the semi-main event. It replaces the Roy Nelson vs. Shane Carwin fight that was pulled when Carwin suffered a back injury. Nelson has been pulled from the show. Grispi vs. Eric Koch, scheduled on 11/11 in Las Vegas, will no longer take place. Ariel Helwani reported this earlier today and Dana White confirmed it with us.

Interesting indeed. I personally don't think Jose stepping up in weight is the right thing to do right now so I'm glad they're allowing him to defend the title. Hardcore fans likely know all about Aldo and the featherweight division but most casual fans probably wouldn't. Aldo is the absolute right man to be the face of this division and really establish it in the UFC before he steps into a fight with Penn or anyone else.

What's next for Big Country if he's pulled from this show? Depending on timing - maybe Big Country -vs- Lesnar??

Grispi has not really seperated himself from the other featherweight contenders though. To me, he should fight Mark Hominik to decide the #1 contender's. It's a waste Manny vs Aldo wasn't saved for this slot because Manny is slightly mroe famous from his TUF and UFC days and the finish would have given Aldo way more publicity if it was on UFC.

Why have him fight Hominick when he already submitted him in under 3 minutes in his first bout with WEC???? Don't overlook this kid. 14-1 with 13 finishes and only been out of the first round once in his career. 6 wins come via KO/TKO and 7 via submission. Since coming to WEC, Grispi has done nothing but beat solid oppositions. He submitted Hominick at WEC 32, TKO'd Micha Miller in under a minute at WEC 35, submitted Jens Pulver in under a minute at WEC 41, and submitted LC Davis at WEC 49 in just a little over 2 and half minutes. This kid has earned his shot.

The lower weights have so much parity to them that it's really hard to seperate yourself and make yourself stand out. These weights a pretty stacked and the mainstream MMA world is about to find out just how good the lighter guys are. Id pay money to see Aldo vs. Grispi.
