The long-awaited "UFC Encyclopedia" is now on store shelves.
The 400-page book, which DK Publishing has produced, covers the full 18-year history of the UFC.
To mark the release, UFC.com editorial director/book author Thomas Gerbasi and a handful of UFC fighters are booked for upcoming signings across the U.S.
The full-color book includes "unprecedented access to the most dynamic fighters in the world, through profile and action photos, detailed biographies, win/loss records, vital stats, and titles held in the organization," according an official release.
The book contains 1,500 images, as well as interviews and/or biographies of just about every notable name who's competed in the UFC. Additionally, "UFC Encyclopedia" includes the history of the UFC, top-25 lists, event results, the history of UFC champions, "The Ultimate Fighter" season recaps, an overview of the UFC Hall of Fame and more. It's a visually stunning presentation of the world's top MMA promotion, and Gerbasi's exhaustive research makes it a true desktop reference.
The book retails for $50 but is available through most major online retailers for less than $30.
Fighters such as Joe Lauzon, Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis take part in book signings this Saturday in various locales. The full list can be found at UFC.com.
The UFC launched in 1993, and Zuffa LLC, the UFC's current ownership group, purchased the organization in 2001. To date, the UFC has hosted 186 total events, most of which have aired on pay-per-view. Gerbasi, who also co-founded MaxBoxing.com, has been the UFC's editorial director since 2005.
