The UFC has added another event to its spring roster. Although the naming of the event hasn’t yet been revealed, a May 15 date is slated for the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va.
The event is likely to be dubbed the third UFC on FX fight night.
The first bout announced for the fight card pits Jason MacDonald against Tom Lawlor in a middleweight tilt, according to Canadian UFC officials.
Both fighters are coming off losses.
MacDonald (25-15) is in the midst of his second tour of duty in the UFC, but has a 1-2 run to show for his efforts. Add that to an up-and-down first go around and the Canadian likely needs a victory to secure his spot on the fighter roster.
Lawlor (7-4) has faired slightly better than MacDonald, currently sporting a 3-3 record in the Octagon. He is 1-3 in his last four fights, however, and is most assuredly in the same boat as MacDonald.
This could wind up being a “loser leaves town” match.
