And it is an embarrassing card. Not PPV quality at all. In fact, I'm more excited for UFC on FX 4 that is the night before, this Friday.

Friday's card has:

ME: LW- Gray Maynard (~#4-5 LW in the world) vs Clay Guida (~#6-8 LW in the world)

Prelims (not sure why it's on the prelims) Hatsu Hioki (#2 Featherweight in the world) vs Ricardo Lamas

http://www.ufc.com/event/FX4

UFC 147 has:

Franklin/Wanderlei Silva II (link to the first fight: http://www.ufc.com/media/Free-Fight--UFC-99-Silva-vs--Franklin ). While it will be a fun and entertaining fight and I'll watch, it's not PPV ME worthy. It was supposed to be Sonnen/Silva first, but that fight was moved to Vegas at 148. Then it was Wanderlei/Vitor II, but Vitor broke his hand. That fight wasn't ME worthy either, but it was a bigger rivalry at least.

It also has a decent HW fight as the co main with Fabricio Werdum (dude that split Big Country's wig with knees) against Mike Russow. It's aight, not co main worthy IMO.

Check out that card:

Most of it is literally fights from TUF Brazil, which is ridiculous. They don't make you pay to watch American TUF fight finales, sooooo.. I don't get it. I predict under 150k PPV buys for them. So yea, I'll probably only check out the last two fights of this card.

The Good news: UFC 148 is only like 2.5 weeks away

Just a heads up- UFC 147 is Saturday...

Yeah I watched the new cartoon guy who makes fun of UFC basically, his interview with Joe Rogan was fucking hilarious. But more on-topic, the card seems real lackluster and coming off what I feel was a pointless card in 146, I'm not too buzzed. I'l lwatch as I'm becoming an MMA fanatic but I'm also more excited for Friday tbh.

146 was far from pointless, it was just poorly constructed IMO. But, the selling point of HEY GUYS LOOK AT ALL DEEZ BIG DUDEZ ALL HEAVIEST WAITS! sold PPVs, so more power to them. And it had a HW Title fight and the #1 contender fight, so not pointless, just not my cup of tea with a bunch of HW mismatches leading to quick finishes. Sherdoggers flamed the everloving shit out of me when I said I gave the main card a 4.5/10 lol (I preferred the prelims on that card)

147 is hella pointless though. Wand/Franklin will be a fun stand up fight and I love Wand, but it's just a pointless ME. Neither guy will ever be a contender again at this point in their career, and while this would be a fine fight to have in the middle of a card (ala Tito/Forrest at 148 as a nostalgia fight) it just shouldn't be the last fight of the night.

I have to work through the first hour of 147 Saturday, so I won't miss anything I really want to see, but if you are home and bored those TUF Brazil fights will probably be really exciting to see because it's two guys from Brazilian slums fighting over a 6 figure contract, but it should be on free TV.

oh well, 148 is two weeks from Saturday in one of the 5 or 10 most anticipated fights in UFC history. It sucks that Faber's fight was moved off of that card to 149 though. Fucking injuries are raping UFC's heaps in 2012.

By pointless I meant filling a card of heavyweights and expecting it to fill time. Nearly every match went in the first round lol. We saw nearly all the prelims AGAIN on the main show.

Sonnen/Silva will be fucking epic.

UFC on FX 4: Guida vs Maynard discussion thread

Anyone watching this event can discuss it in here. We can use it for 147 tomorrow as well since both shows combined probably won't generate as much discussion as the usual PPV threads do.

Hope I'm back in time tomorrow to watch. What time does it start again, midnight?

Prelims start 6 EST
Main card starts 9 EST

CBA to figure out what time that is in your time zone

EST - gayest time zone world wide.

If this is an attempt to diss me congrats at failure. I'm in PST where pimps thrive.

EST is just the closest I can translate for you, it's 3 hours closer to whatever god awful time zone the UK uses than the PST

Lol I would have replaced it for whatever you gave me. US time zone(s) confuse me. I know you're miles behind me though, so I'm presuming PST is the furthest west?

Correct.

EST- New York and shit, is I think 5 hours behind England
Central- the midwest part of the US is 6
Mountain time zone- shittiest time zone, 7 hours behind
Pacific Standard time- west coast, best time zone, 8 hours behind England

I think that's right, I might be a couple of hours off

UFC on FX 4: Guida vs Maynard discussion thread

I know the Euro early games started at half 4/5pm here, not sure what it was where you were. Easier to work it out that way than me simply googling it and finding it quicker than typing all this out.

The early games of the group stage? They were starting at 8:30 local time, so 11:30 EST

I think this confirms my last post as being correct :yay:
