Brian Ebersole lucked into his UFC career when Carlos Condit went down with an injury a few weeks out of UFC 127. Needing a replacement, the UFC contacted Ebersole to step in and face Chris Lytle on short notice. Ebersole weathered the early storm to win a dominant unanimous decision. He followed the win with another victory this past month at UFC 133 when he defeated Dennis Hallman by TKO.
Rory MacDonald by contrast has long been considered the future of the welterweight division. He just turned 22 years old and has already compiled a 3-1 record in the UFC. Georges St. Pierre, a training partner of MacDonald, has been on record saying that he expects Rory to be the future 170 pound champion.
Bloody Elbow reached out to Ebersole's manager Justin Lawrence about this fight. He stated, "there are no easy fights in the UFC. Brian is delighted to face a kid with a lot of hype and momentum on PPV as opposed to some tough unknown in a dark match. I also like the fight being in Rory's back yard. It is a very good fight for Brian."
The fight is set to be on the PPV portion of the broadcast.
