Jeff Curran returned to the UFC after spending the last two years fighting for the Illinois based XFO. Curran is a veteran the sport having fought in both the UFC and PRIDE as well as a one time challenge for Urijah Faber's featherweight title. Scott Jorgensen was one of the faces of the WEC bantamweight division and a challenger to Dominick Cruz' title at WEC 53. It was his second fight in the UFC.

Scott Jorgensen was the aggressor early on taking the fight to Curran with crisp boxing and leg kicks. Jeff Curran was unable to get his game plan going, being forced to play defense for much of the fight. Jorgensen utilized his wrestling to control the fight scoring with big slams and takedowns. He was able to survive and scramble out of dangerous situations when Curran threatened with a submission.

The judges scored the fight 29-28 for Jorgensen who is now 2-0 in the UFC and still one of the elite fighters of the division. Curran will hopefully get another shot at the UFC but his best years are obviously behind him. He may be better served as a coach for up and coming midwestern fighters.

Fun Fact: Scott Jorgensen was a teammate of Jens Pulver at Driven Gym in Idaho. Jens Pulver is now a training partner of Jeff Curran at Curran MMA.
