UFC 137 Results Recap: Scott Jorgensen vs. Jeff Curran

UFC 137: Penn vs. Diaz featured a rare Bantamweight PPV fight, as Scott Jorgensen faced veteran Jeff Curran. Jorgensen took the victory via unanimous decision, 29-28, 29-28, 30-27. This is Jorgensen's second win since losing a WEC title fight to Dominick Cruz and his second win in the UFC. Curran drops his first fight back in the company after a near eight year absence.

Considering Jorgensen's top 5 standing in the division, and Curran's lack of recent wins against any ranked opposition, this is a result that never seemed truly in doubt. Curran was game, but Jorgensen was just too good for the veteran. Sadly, this was another fight that didn't capture the crowd's attention, as these two did not have the kind of fast paced barn-burner that the Bantamweights often deliver.

What was the high spot of this fight?

Jorgensen showed off his ability to adapt wrestling into MMA with a nice slam towards the end of round 2 that got the crowd out of their seats.

Where do these guys go from here?

Because he is just a few fights removed from losing to Dominick Cruz, I think Jorgensen remains outside the immediate title picture for the moment. But he should get one of the division's bigger names in the meantime. Best options would be either the loser of Brian Bowles vs. Urijah Faber, or he could face former champion Miguel Torres.

Jeff Curran is never going to challenge for the UFC Bantamweight title. But he still has use for the company for now. A seasoned veteran like Curran makes a great challenge to any of the countless younger fighters looking to move into the upper levels of the division. Let these fighters test themselves against someone who has seen it all, like Curran. Hopefully that's the way they go, although Curran could certainly be cut sooner than later.

Never. Like Roop vs. Hioki, this was not bad, but never get moving.
