In a Featherweight fight at UFC 136: Edgar vs. Maynard III, Nam Phan defeated Leonard Garcia via unanimous decision. Phan took the fight 29-28 on all three scorecards, earning a measure of redemption for his controversial decision loss to Garcia last December. The two are now 1-1 against each other, and already talk is of a rubber match at some point.

If you've seen Leonard Garcia fight before, you know what this fight was like. After a somewhat more technical first round, Garcia being swinging wildly throughout the 2nd and 3rd. Phan used more technical boxing and fast combos to connect on Garcia and control the action for most of the fight. He looked to be cruising to a decision victory when Garcia dropped him in the 3rd round. Garcia swarmed on the injured Phan, but could not get the finish, and Phan was awarded the decision.

What was the high spot of this fight?

That Garcia knockdown of Phan in round 3, and Garcia's subsequent burst of energy to try and end the fight was very impressive. He didn't get it done, but he definitely brought the action here.

Where do these guys go from here?

Garcia is now riding back to back loses, but his style means he's not going anywhere. He's the kind of fighter where wins and loses really don't matter - it's all about pairing him with someone who will go wild and brawl with him in the hopes of creating another Garcia vs. Korean Zombie style fight. I vote for either Michihiro Omigawa or Tiequan Zhang.

Phan saves himself from potentially being cut here, as he's now 1-2 in the UFC. He's still far from the top of the division, but thanks to this fight, he could draw a higher profile fight next. Perhaps against fellow Ultimate Fighter alum Jonathan Brookins?

Watch it now, later, or never?
