Darren Elkins dominated Zhang Tiequan at UFC 136, earning a unanimous decision. Throughout the fight Tiequan attempted to flurry on the feet only to get taken down. Almost every time Elkins shot in for the takedown, Tiequan caught his neck and tried to lock in a guillotine choke to finish the fight. Elkins survived each time and spent the fight dominating from inside Zhang's guard, from on Zhang's back or in the mount.

Elkins was unable to finish but he dominated every round of the fight and won on the judges scorecards 30-27, 30-26 and 30-27.

What was the high spot of this fight?

Watching just how far ahead of Zhang on the ground Elkins was is probably the high point. There were a few near submissions by each guy but there was no single great moment in the fight. It came down to the repeated domination on the ground by Elkins.

Where do these guys go from here?

Elkins has the quietest 3-1 UFC record I can ever remember. There are a lot of lingering doubts as to how good he really is, but he's showing to be a step above the bottom guys at 145. I know the UFC doesn't like to match guys coming off wins with guys who just lost but a fight with a guy like Rani Yahya may be good for a measuring stick for Elkins.

Zhang is simply not that good of a fighter. Still, it's only a one fight losing streak for a guy the UFC really wants to keep around. They need to carefully match him from here on and keep him away from people who can take him down and dominate him on the floor.

Watch it now, later, or never?

Never. It's not that it was horrible, it just is a long, tedious fight that turns into lather-rinse-repeat after the first takedown.
