Spike's prelims show for
UFC 135 did quite well compared to other prelims episodes, according to numbers released by Spike today. The show, which featured a middleweight bout between
Nick Ring and
Tim Boetsch as well as a lightweight matchup between TUF 13 winner
Anthony Ferguson and
Aaron Riley, drew an average of 1.6 million viewers and a 1.1 rating. They were number one in their timeslot amongst males 18-34 and 18-49. And it was the highest average any prelim has done amongst males 18-34.
This prelims special tied for third best all-time in terms of average viewers. The
UFC 131 and 114 prelims shows also averaged 1.6 million. The only episodes that have done better were the prelims for
UFC 126 (averaged 2 million viewers) and the UFC 109 show (averaged 1.7 million viewers). There have been 24 prelims specials on Spike TV overall.
The prelims specials will run through UFC 141 on Spike, then move over to FX as a part of the new broadcast deal the UFC signed with Fox.
