UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard made a convincing case for a title shot by blasting decorated wrestler Shane Roller for a KO finish at 2:12 of the first round at UFC 132.

What was the high spot of this fight?

Guillard's brutal and sustained assault on Shane Roller was a perfectly choreographed ballet of brutality.

Where do these guys go from here?

Melvin Guillard is a young man who's going places in the UFC's lightweight division. He's won 5 straight and destroyed two formidable foes in Roller and Evan Dunham. The logjam around the title is probably thick enough that Guillard may have to fight once or even twice more to get a title shot. A rematch with Dennis Siver might make sense.

Roller goes back to the drawing board. He's 1-1 in the UFC and 3-2 with Zuffa. He has reached a level where top notch collegiate wrestling and raw punching power are not enough to beat top-flight opposition. Look to see Roller facing one of the other lightweights who lost last night in his next bout.
