How did these two get here?
K-Sos (I still have major trouble spelling his name, so K-Sos it is) has been around for a long time. He ran his own promotion in Manitoba for a long time, then eventually ended up in the IFL for a long spell, and finally made his way to the UFC after being a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 8. He picked up three straight wins upon entry into the UFC, including two submission of the night bonuses for his vaunted kimura. After a one-sided decision loss to Brandon Vera, he had two memorable battles with Stephan Bonnar. The first was controversially stopped because of a Bonnar cut, so they did it again with Bonnar winning the second time around. K-Sos' most recent fight was a decision win over Croatian Goran Reljic.
Mike "The Master of Disaster" Massenzio was a Juco national champion wrestler in 2004 before entering MMA. He went 10-1 in regional New Jersey fights (including a split-decision win over Dan Miller) before getting an IFL fight, which he lost to Danilo Villefort. Nonetheles, he was brought into the UFC and quickly submitted Drew McFedries in his debut. His next outing was not as successful, as he was TKO'd by CB Dollaway. He sat out almost two years due to a knee injury and bad staph infection, and finally made his return against Brian Stann at UFC on Versus 2. Despite being submitted late in the third round, Massenzio took home a fight of the night bonus. Unfortunately, he also lost his UFC job. A win in the minors and a willingness to step in a weight class above his normal middleweight got him a chance to get back in though, and he's ready to go Saturday night.
Why should you care?
Both of these guys have won fight of the night bonuses before, and even though Massenzio is a late replacement and is giving up some size, he's almost always exciting.
