UFC 130 just took a huge hit as the third fight between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard has been cancelled after both men suffered injuries. Quinton Jackson vs. Matt Hamill is now your main event with Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson in the main supporting fight. MMA Fighting with the details:

UFC president Dana White confirmed to MMA Fighting that both fighters are out.

According to sources with knowledge of the situation, Edgar broke ribs, while Maynard suffered a knee injury.

That is a shame as Edgar/Maynard 2 emerged from predictions for it to be horrifically boring to be one of the best fights in UFC history.

This continues a bit of a trend for the middle of the year to be lacking huge main event fights. UFC 131 sees a monster main event with Junior dos Santos facing off with Brock Lesnar, but from there we're looking at Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber to headline UFC 132 and possibly Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes or Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis main eventing UFC 133 after Jon Jones pulled out of the bout with Rashad Evans.

That isn't to say that those aren't compelling bouts, but they're not huge business drawing fights either and we could possibly see the UFC fail to break their own PPV records for the first time in several years.

Update by Tim Burke: The Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story fight has been bumped up to the PPV main card, as per Mike Chiapetta of MMAFighting. The Kendall Grove vs. Tim Boetsch fight will be moved up to the Spike broadcast.
