SANTAQUIN, Utah-Police arrested two teens in connection with a fire that caused over $1 million in damages to a Santaquin LDS church.
Santaquin police said in a statement released Saturday that information from the public led them to the arrest of two teens, ages 16 and 17, who admitted to going through a window, breaking into offices and stealing $7 from a desk before lighting part of the building on fire early Thursday morning. They told police they broke into the church looking for money. "Santaquin is a small town, close knit, and people watch and when they do they call us. And that's really what got us going," said Detective Stan Eggen with Santaquin Police.
The early-morning fire caused an estimated $1.5 to $2 million in damages, police said. The two teens have been charged with burglary, theft and aggravated arson.
As for Dahir, last month the Nebraska Court of Appeals upheld his two to three year sentence, despite Kleine’s argument it was too lenient.
