TUF China Finale bonuses: Kim and Mitrione pick up 'Performance' awards
MACAU – Dong Hyun Kim, Matt Mitrione, Yui Chul Nam and Kazuki Tokudome each earned $50,000 bonuses for their performances today at the TUF China Finale.
Nam and Tokudome earned the “Fight of the Night†honors, and Kim and Mitrione each won “Performance of the Night†awards.
UFC officials announced the winners at the post-event news conference, which MMAjunkie attended.
The TUF China Finale took place at The Venetian Macao’s CotaiArena. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass.
Nam and Tokudome wrapped up the preliminary card with a back-and-forth three-rounder. Nam unloaded a brutal early barrage and appeared on his way to a quick stoppage victory in the lightweight bout, but Tokudome survived and appeared to win the second round. But in the end, thanks to a strong third, Nam survived for a split-decision victory in the thrilling affair.
Kim and Mitrione, meanwhile, had far easier nights. Kim headlined the show and delivered a “Knockout of the Year†candidate with a spinning elbow that sent welterweight John Hathaway crashing to the mat. Mitrione, meanwhile, stopped fellow heavyweight Shawn Jordan with punches at the 4:59 mark of the opening round of their main-card bout.
