'TUF: Brazil 3,' featuring Sonnen and Silva, debuts March 9 on UFC Fight Pass

The highly anticipated third season of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil†will debut March 9 on UFC Fight Pass.

The show, which has wrapped its filming in Brazil, features Chael Sonnen coaching opposite his latest Brazilian nemesis, Wanderlei Silva. We already know there was one altercation between the two coaches during taping.

Sonnen (28-14-1 MMA, 7-6 UFC) and Silva (35-12-1 MMA, 5-7 UFC) initially were expected to co-headline UFC 173 on May 24. Instead, they now will headline a May 31 card in Brazil in a city yet to be announced.

But before they fight, fans will be able to watch “TUF: Brazil 3″ as part of Fight Pass, the UFC’s new digital network. That platform, which launched in December, has a free trial period that ends Friday. Starting Saturday – with the live TUF China Finale event – fans can pay $9.99 a month for the subscription service that will include live events, plus taped content like “TUF: Brazil 3.â€

Sonnen, a former middleweight title challenger, is coming off a TKO loss to Rashad Evans in a 205-pound bout at UFC 167 in November. That dropped him back into the loss column after a “Submission of the Night†win over Mauricio “Shogun†Rua in August, a win that snapped a two-fight skid of title losses to then-middleweight champ Anderson Silva and light-heavyweight titleholder Jon Jones.

Wanderlei Silva has not fought in nearly a year. This past March, the vet stopped Brian Stann with a second-round “Knockout of the Night†in Japan, where he made his name fighting for PRIDE. “The Axe Murderer†will be chasing his first winning streak since 2005-2006.
