-- During an interview with Hot 97, Triple H says that he doesn't think that being married to Stephanie McMahon got him the WWE title. "The second Steph and I in any way, shape or form got together, it became an issue,"

"And that was something I had to accept in my career. People are always going to look at that and say that, but you have to look at it this way, Vince McMahon runs a billion dollar industry...

"He's a pretty smart guy. I can tell you quite frankly, if Vince didn't think it was right for business, it would not be done on our show."

Triple H also commented on comments made by Scott Steiner saying that if he and Steiner met tomorrow, they would be fine. He also discussed Ric Flair's retirement weekend saying that the Naitch's match stole Wrestlemania 24. To listen to the interview, click here

I know Trips is trying to defend himself here, but we all know he didn't become a 12 time World champion just because it was "good for business". I'm not trying to bash the guy, I actually enjoy Triple H especially when he is a heel, but you can't doubt that he got pushed a little bit more because of his marriage to Stephanie. The way I see it though, Trips is one of the smartest guys in the company. He found a way to start a love relationship with the bosses daughter and cemented himself into a company that made him millions of dollars.

Firstly, good for Triple H to be respectful. He didnt have to take endless cheapshots at Steiner, and trust me, he couldve instead, he just basically defended himself, said he as no big problem wit Steiner, etc. The only "bad" thing is some TNA smarks will be all over him for saying TNA isnt in the mainstream, but whatever... Secondly, without turning this into another HHH debate... He probably wouldnt be a 12 time champ if he didnt marry Steph, but I cna guarantee hed be at least a 10 time world champ, so really, whats the difference? Hes still a top supserstar of all time.

How are you so sure he'd be a 10 time champion? WWE is ever so fond of wasting talent, so much so that they wasted enough talent to start a whole other wrestling promotion (TNA), so who's to say Triple H wouldn't have been utterly abandoned? Sorry, Triple H is on top only because of Steph.

Your arguments are weak.
Firstly, 10 time was just a guess. I was throwing it out there, because IMO, he could still have been a 12 time champ without Steph, but for peopel who sya he couldnt, 10 seems like a fair number if he wasnt married to her.
Do you honestly think WWE would let someone with his talent go to waste?
And also, he wouldnt have been bandoned to go to TNA without Steph, because by the time he married her, in 2003, which was a year after TNA started, he was already a 7 time world champion, and was already a huge name in the company, so that was way too late for him to be abandoned and tossed to the side.

Well, again, I don't particularly like Triple H and that was one hell of a softball interview, but I got to say he handled himself like a true professional. He could've ripped Steiner a new asshole, and he might've been justified in doing it, but he brushed it off, called it pretty much the way it is, and never lost his cool about it. He also managed to no-sell TNA in the process, which will probably piss Scottie off even more.

Steiner has been no good since he traded talent for physique. Anyway, nothing wrong with hating Ric Flair if he messed with your career, but when you start pretending that *No One* likes Ric your only kidding yourself.

His arguments are weak? HE HAS NO ARGUMENTS! His arguments are "I know he wouldnt have been." How do you know? "I just do."

HHH showed his class in all of this. He could have bashed and destroyed Steiner, going from his lowsy utterly barely understandable promos, or to his matches in which only suplexes are applied well.

As for your comment, WWE has not wasted all the talent right now on TNA. Steiner isn't a main eventer in TNA, then why should he had been on in the WWE? With Christian Cage and Booker T I'll give you a bye, and the almighty Kurt Angle hold all the belts in the WWE, was one of the go to guys and the face of SD for almost 4 years. That doesnt sound like unused.

HHH was already 7 times champion before marrying Steph. Even if he had left by then, he would have made an impressive career just by having that.

Same old dumb anti-HHH sentiment being offered up by the same old peeps but, agreed, HHH show's his class right here.

Yeah, Trips is good here. If I were him I probably would have ripped into Scotty. HHH didn't even mention TNA.

To everyone who says HHH was smart by saying he married Steph. Whell what if he ..... LOVES HER!?

I agree with BKB. Besides, it isn't like Stephanie is a dumb manipulable bitch, that if HHH goes home and starts whining for a belt, she justs going to book him to win it, or she just married him on the first place falling into a well thought plan by Paul Levesque.

Deep down in the bottom of your hearts, you know that during 2002-2005, the time you bash so much for HHH, you know that it was best business. In some ocassions(RVD), he deserve at least one little run, but he did drop the belt to HBK, to Goldberg and to Orton, the only ones who really deserve it at the time. Or do you honestly can say with a straight face that having Kane or Scott Steiner as champ would have been better BUSINESS than to have HHH

He comes off in a good light here I must say. As much as I want to believe him (I honestly don't midn him as champion now) there are times in the past where him having the belt didn't make sense, so his arguments fall a little flat there.

Even if the reason that he is on top coz of his wife... so what? He is doing a great job performing and maintaining the standard needed from him very well.
Would you refer a world champion as Samoa Joe or as Triple H? yeah most will agree that Triple H can fill this caliber a mile a head than Joe can.
