To get the credit, your system must include AV cables, power cable and a working DualShock 2 controller. Most PS2 games will be eligible for the promo, but they must be worth at least $2 in trade value, meaning your old copy of Madden '04 will definitely not work.

Considering the cost of a new PS2 is now $100, this is quite possibly the best deal you'll be able to get on selling your old and busted system. With Uncharted 2, MAG, Heavy Rain and a number of PS3 exclusives in the pipeline, now might be the time to jump in ... unless you're waiting for that still-elusive price drop.

That's a awesome deal. Seriously if you don't have a PS3 you should trade in your PS2. Unless this is for a limited time only I might do this as I only have a 40 GB and if I trade that in plus my PS2 that's only $100 I need to pay. The only thing that prevents me from doing this is because I won't be able to play my PS2 games obviously but I could always buy another one in the future. So yeah go get a PS3.

I'd rather keep my PS2. Since 80gb don't have backwards compatible. The PS2 is the greatest system of all time, right up there with the SNES. I'd rather pay 400 and just keep my PS2. Getting rid of a PS2 is just plain dumb imo.

It doesn't matter anyway because I have a bc PS3 and a PS2. I'm just voicing my opinion.

On another note: I've lost my love for gaming. I'm so far behind.

Nice deal. Too bad I already have a PS3, but it's the 40G. And I got that when the 40G was still $400. Though I was disappointment when I tried playing PS2 game in it and found out it didn't work.

just to clairfy, that deal is a US deal only. And its company wide in the US. Trade deals are always specific. So if its towards a new system 80gig then you can't use it towards the 160 or used/refurb ones.

min $2 trade in the US huh? that is a pretty sweet deal. If it was Canada it would be min $8 to get $100 off.

I'm one of those guys still awaiting that ever elusive price drop. Because once the PS4 comes out they HAVE to drop the price of the PS3, because honestly if they expect anyone to pay almost One Grand for a new gaming system you're starting to get up there to where One Grand will get you a 300GB desktop computer with 1 Terabyte portable hard drive *like Beer has* where you can DOWNLOAD entire games from the net ripping them from different sites and having ten times better image quality, storage space and customization and online interaction. Rather than just paying all that for what is bound to be just a 150 gig next gen gaming system.

It's a good deal and I am considering it. But my good ol' PS2 has some good memories of mine, all the nights I stayed up playing God of War, prom night my junior year playing Madden and GoW rather then shelling out 200 bucks to go to the bullshit dance, buying a tux, dinner etc. I don't know if I could part with something that has been a permanent fixture in my bedroom in 2003.

Quite bitching. It costs Sony over $400 to make a PS3 and if they want to make profit it makes sense not to have it at a low price. Who cares about computers? Fuck PC gaming. The PS3 supports CD's,DVD's, and fucking Blu Ray. It also has high definition gaming and is a computer as it has a web browser as well as many other features.
