Tourney final postponed, Lee vs. Phan promoted to TUF China Finale main card
One of the tournament finals from “The Ultimate Fighter: China†has been postponed, and as a result, Saturday’s TUF China Finale event has a new main-card bout.
The featherweight tournament finale of Yang Jianping (6-3-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. Ning Guangyou (3-2-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has been scratched due to an injury to one of the competitors. A UFC official told MMAjunkie the bout will likely be rebooked for a future card in Asia.
As a result, a bantamweight bout between Nam Phan (18-12 MMA, 2-5 UFC) and Vaughan Lee (13-9-1 MMA, 2-3 UFC) has been promoted the event’s main card.
The promotion, though, is a dubious one since the entire fight card, which takes place at The Venetian Macao’s CotaiArena in Macau, streams on UFC Fight Pass. It’s the first event to stream on the UFC’s new digital network following the end of the free-trial period, which concludes Friday.
Saturday’s card, which comes with an early 6:15 a.m. ET (3:15 a.m. PT) start time, now has just nine bouts.
The latest TUF China Finale lineup includes:
MAIN CARD (UFC Fight Pass, 8 a.m. ET)
John Hathaway vs. Dong Hyun Kim
Zhang Lipeng vs. Wang Sai – “TUF: China†welterweight tourney final
