Lets talk about tournaments.

Tournaments have been a staple of pro wrestling for almost as long as wrestling has been a thing since it is a easy way to crown a champion, either a first ever champion or to fill a vacant belt. WWE has even had annual king of the ring tournaments too and frow depending on the moodset of the powers that be. And last year they held both the second ever Dusty Rhodes tag team invitational and the first Cruiserweight Classic. But overall tournaments are not a super big deal in American mainstream wrestling.

I mainly watch Japanese wrestling these days, and tournaments are a much bigger thing in the Japanese companies. Any company worth their snuff has at least 1 or 2 annual tournaments each year. It's a easy way to fill a months worth of content and you can fairly easily work existing storylines into it so it is doable.

Are tournaments something you would like to see more of in the WWE? Maybe a return of the king of the ring, maybe a tag team tournament, making the cruiserweight classic annual etc?

Yes, yes and yes.

I am a massive fan of tournaments. The CWC proved to be a great experiment, and I'd obviously love it to become an annual event.

Perhaps they should try doing something like that with the women, too.

As for bringing back the KOTR and doing a tag tourney, I already said above: Yes! I'm all for it.

Yes...more tournaments...

Bring back the King of the Ring...the mid-card performers need a way to shine without
holding gold...

I am very much looking forward to the Women's tournament later this year...speaking
of which...I have an article to work on...

I would love another King of the Ring, but the past few winners were arguably hurt a lot during their time with the crown. Personally, if they do bring it back, I say make it for a number one contender spot to the winner's respective brand champion, WWE or Universal. That way it gives the win more meaning, the winner won't need to adopt a silly King gimmick unless they know they can pull it off...and it makes the tournament interesting again!

Can't go wrong with tournaments. They allow for unpredictable matches with meaning, something worth wrestling for. Any fan can get into that.

Man I love tournaments they're so simple yet effective. The CWC and UK tournaments were great and I'm looking forward to the Women's tournament to come to fruition, would love a new KotR. They're easy to follow and usually get the guys involved over.

Agreed. All the above. Holding annual tournaments is the perfect way to make a championship seem more credible and help feuds and matches evolve.

King of the ring was kind of similar to these tournaments, and those types of settings can bring out the best in opponents.

Hell yes! It can give you matchups and throw out unexpected results that has nothing to do with kayfabe storyline. Undertaker vs AJ styles? Why not?

Chad Gable vs Miz? Why not!

I love storylines and all that, but I also love seeing wrestlers we dont see booked against eachother get a chance to put on a great match.

KoTR needs credibility again though, the old winner gets shot at summerslam would be a good way to start.

CWC and Tag tournaments are awesome. And I hope they both become annual tourneys. I know Dusty invitational seems to be that way, I hope CWC is too.
