To cowboy or not to Cowboy?

Well, it looks like Lance is in line for a push... To the main event? Not yet, but definately to the upper midcard. But thats not what this thread is about. Its about what gimmick he should have now that hes being pushed...
We saw him get involved with HBK/Jericho, and then last week, he cut his first bigtime promo, and his mic skills werent at all bad. He came off very good. But since his push, we havent seen much of a gimmick from him. It used to be that rough cowboy type gimmick, but now, he isnt using it. IMO, it seems like hes just becoming a Jericho sympathiser now, and not really having a gimmick... thats all well and good, for now, but once he has to go ou ton his own, the Jericho gimmick wont be there, and he'll be left without a gimmick on his own and become bland IMO...

So,

What did you think of his first promo?
Do you think he should have kept the cowboy gimmick?

He does have a gimmick. He is an underappreciated redneck.

He can just be a bad ass heel, he really doesn't need an over the top gimmick in my opinion.

From what I saw of that Promo on RAW with Jericho, IDK if thats the one you are talking about, but the heel action between the two, how Jericho was kinda talking him over, then Cade would kiss his ass a little bit lol. It was a funny promo. I think if this continues and Jericho works him up, he will be a good heel. As CenaMark said, if the Jericho thing works, he can be just a bad ass heel and wont need a gimmick.

Yeah i agree he doesn't nessacerly need a gimmick. Not every star needs a gimmick. he may well get over as a kick ass heel.

His first promo was OK, I'm not a fan of him at all, he's way too generic. I'm more of a Murdoch fan.

He could be Jericho's protege/enforcer, which is what they're doing now. Eventually this could lead to a turn by one of them with Cade being propelled to legit Main Event status.

his promo wasn't bad, I have seen a lot better first promo's lol but it was good for someone his caliber...In time he will get better and be a major heel in the business I think he should get an IC title reign before being a major heel give it a little bit of time.

What did you think of his first promo? Nothing amazing, i think it can turn into something good though. He seems like somebody that'd work as an amazing heel. I liked him in the past and his tag matches were good. We'll see how this goes.
Do you think he should have kept the cowboy gimmick? He sort've still has it. He totally didn't do away with it. But like most other people are saying, he doesen't need one. Not everybody needs a gimmick.
