TNA to no longer air in Australia?

Fox8 in Australia has not signed a new deal with TNA to continue broadcasting Impact, a number of readers from that country passed on to PWInsider.com today.

The readers, part of a movement to get the network to sign a new deal and keep TNA on in that area, are asking Australian fans to call Fox8 at 131 999 or write via the network's online feedback form to request the series be continued by the network.

I was actually surprised when TNA was first broadcast on Fox8 in Australia since Fox8 is the home of WWE and I had assumed they had an exclusivity contract with WWE but evidently they hadn't. If Fox8 don't sign on with TNA then TNA's only other option is one of the new digital channels owned by the free to air networks. ONE might take them but they would pay a lot less.

TNA is aired on FOX8 here at like 11:30pm on a Saturday night, unlike RAW, NXT, Superstars and Smackdown which air much earlier during the week. RAW is on at 3:30pm Wednesdays, NXT is on at 3:30pm Thursdays (in 3 mins), Superstars is on at 2:30pm Fridays and Smackdown is on at 3:30pm Fridays. I find it funny we watch Smackdown before America does

Anyway, I'm not surprised to hear if FOX8 are culling TNA. Around here a lot of people have heard of the WWE but know nothing about it as they think wrestling is shit or something. I highly doubt many people have heard about TNA. I certainly didn't until about 2008, mainly because I'd just joined my first wrestling forum and people were talking about it.

Basically TNA doesn't have much of a market here. I wonder how many people showed up to the live events sometime last year.

It is funny though how TNA has a better airtime than all of WWE's shows. The only good thing is that Fox8 have the extra channel on a two hour delay which means that the show airs for a reasonable time for those not at school. I remember watching TNA on Fox8 when they started showing the old PPV episodes of TNA I can remember seeing the first ever episode of TNA on Fox8 then it went off the air for a long time and then when Impact started strong in the US they picked it up here. Not sure what the ratings are here, they are quite hard to find but I am sure they would be quite similar to WWE shows since they have a better air time for their target audience.

Aniking, TNA didn't have an event here last year. That was delayed and it was supposed to happen in November and it never did.

I'm glad TNA isn't on TV here, it's useless and shit. I'd rather have ROH and WWE on my screens. If only ONE could do a deal with ROH... If only...

Yeah well no one forces you to watch it deezy, just vote with your money and tune out, thats what I do.

I would have thought that TNA would have been getting solid ratings in Australia as I know wrestling on the whole is a big attraction over there.

Yeah since the wrestling channel went under I've been waiting for ROH to get a new TV deal over here, with all the crap and all the crap channels, I would have thought it could have found a home somewhere.
