TNA has secured a two hour time slot with Spike TV, but the network has given the promotion a condition - the wrestling company must purchase HD equipment, as Spike TV will be upgrading to HD broadcasting by 2009.

TNA is apparently putting up resistance to the condition as the current contract is set to expire at the end of September. Spike TV has previously provided funding to TNA, such as contributing money to bring Sting to TNA, but the cable network hasn’t been open to providing addition financing for the purchase of HD equipment for the promotion.

So this is what I'm getting......TNA needs to buy HD equipment with money they don't have....or they can't go to 2 hours....good luck on getting the HD equipment :rofl1:. It looks as if TNA won't get the 2 hours afterall...

TNA really has no choice but to do whatever they have to to get the two hours. If this program stays on a one hour slot for the next year or two they're going to die out.

The constant possibility of ROH getting a TV deal doesn't help matters for TNA either.

Wait, you really think TNA won't get two hours JUST from this news bit? That's pretty pathetic.

I read this somewhere and thought TNA is going to end up changing stations because they cant really afford to go out wasting money on HD cameras. PLus i read somewhere that wrestling on HD would be crap because you can practically see all the secrets they use to make it look as real as possible and most the women wrestlers look shit because HD.

The first test the WWE did taping in HD aparently yeah it was really bad. The WWE has done more tests since though and apparently they have found a way to fix a lot of the problems they had with HD. So who knows.

About the news piece though, even if TNA goes else where they will eventually run into the same problem, as the US plans to convert all cable to HD as the standard by 2012 I think it was. Canada will most likely follow suit.
