Tim Elliott vs. Wilson Reis booked for UFC Fight Night 49 in Tulsa
Two of the world’s top flyweights will meet inside the octagon later this summer.
Wilson Reis (17-5 MMA, 1-1 UFC) returns to competition to take on Tim Elliott (10-5 MMA, 2-3 UFC) in a 125-pound bout at UFC Fight Night 49. Philly.com first reported the matchup. UFC officials later confirmed the bout with MMAjunkie.
UFC Fight Night 49 takes place August 23 in Tulsa, Okla. The event’s main card airs on FOX Sports 1 following a preliminary card on the same channel and UFC Fight Pass.
It is unknown at this time if the bout will take place on the main or preliminary card.
Reis, who drops from bantamweight to flyweight for the contest, made his UFC debut in September of this past year after competing in other organizations around the globe since turning professional in 2007. He has split his first two octagon appearances, defeated Ivan Menjivar by unanimous decision at UFC 165 and losing a narrow split decision to Iuri Alcantara at UFC Fight Night 36 in February.
Elliott will also be looking to return to the win column. The 27-year-old has dropped his past two bouts; however, those defeats came to former and future flyweight title challengers Joseph Benavidez and Ali Bagautinov. His successes under the UFC banner have seen him defeat Louis Gaudinot and Jared Papazian.
Reis vs. Elliott marks the first addition to UFC Fight Night.
